FLW Fallingwater Project

In September 2020, a one-day residency was completed at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater in Bear Run, PA. Over the following year, collaboration with the Fallingwater team and The Creative Business Accelerator led to the creation of an exclusive line for the Fallingwater museum store. Starting in September 2021, these works are available for purchase. Learn more about the project here.

The 2021 Fallingwater Collection is an exclusive series of stoneware vases that celebrate the convergence of architectural excellence and the natural beauty of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. These one-of-a-kind, hand-built vases are crafted from stoneware slabs and glazed in a palette inspired by the property in autumn. The ceramic works on the estate, from the Moche stirrup vessels in the guest house and the large spouted bowl in the living room to the Peter Voulkos sculpture by the pool and the Pre-Columbian terracotta figurines scattered throughout, serve as constant inspiration. In this collection, textures, lines, shapes, forms, spaces, and colors come together to commemorate a late September visit to Fallingwater. Below are some concept sketches that offer a glimpse into the creative process, along with a video detailing the process and a bit of history as a maker (skip to the 17:55 mark for a 10-minute segment).
