I'm Jen, the creative mind and hands behind every piece you'll find here. Based in Morgantown, WV, I am a full-time ceramic artist and small business owner, with a lifelong passion for creating and teaching.

A Creative Journey

Growing up in an artistic family, I was fortunate to have parents who nurtured my spirit with outdoor adventures, art lessons, and a deep appreciation for finely crafted objects. My mother taught me to sew at an early age, and I quickly found joy in making my own garments, curtains, quilts, and more. Working at a retail fabric store during my teens further fueled my love for creating with my hands.

Discovering Clay

While pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Alaska Anchorage, I unexpectedly discovered my true calling—clay. This discovery marked the beginning of a nearly 30-year journey in ceramics, one that continues to captivate me with its endless possibilities, rich history, and cultural significance. Clay is a medium that connects us all while allowing for infinite expression, and I am endlessly inspired by its ability to bridge cultures and traditions.

From Sewing to Ceramics

During the pandemic, I returned to my sewing roots, making over a thousand masks from an altered pattern. This experience reignited my passion for combining my love of fabric with my work in clay. I began constructing pottery from clay slabs, much like a dressmaker would create a garment. The process involves "sketching" new forms with soft clay, then cutting, tracing, and rebuilding until I achieve the desired shape. I find joy in both the playful experimentation and the disciplined production process, each satisfying a different part of my creative mind.

A Passion for Teaching

Beyond creating, my greatest joy lies in teaching. Whether through online workshops, in-person classes, or university courses, I am dedicated to sharing the knowledge that others have so generously shared with me. My goal is to inspire curiosity, encourage risk-taking, and spark a lifelong love of learning in my students. Teaching allows me to connect with my community and help others embark on their own creative paths.

Thank you for being part of this adventure with me.
